I bought the domain name for this site over a year ago. But I've talked myself out of actually making it happen since then: Do I have anything interesting to say? But I'm not a particularly good photographer. What if people don't read? Oh god, what if they DO?
On New Year's Eve, I came across a wish for 2015 by one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman. I'm generally not one for inspirational quotes. Truthfully, I tend to roll my eyes at them. But this one hit home.
"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.
So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever." — Neil Gaiman
So, I said to myself, "Word, Neil. Let's do this." And here I am. And here are you. And maybe you'll love it. And maybe you won't. But I'm doing it, so it doesn't matter. Click through to my About Me for a little background and what to expect from this site, if you're so inclined. Or simply read on and enjoy!
Because we are old and passed out on New Year's Eve around 10, my husband and I missed any opportunity to get dressed up. So, we dressed to the nines on New Year's Day to go see a movie, where we encountered much side-eye from the sweatpants- and t-shirt-wearing masses. It was a sunny day, so we stopped in the park on our way home and snapped a few pics of our fancy duds.
