Ilona Westfall and The Case of the Yellow Dress

I picked up this vintage wool dress at Salvation Army a couple weeks ago for a steal ($2.50). I've been dying to wear it since, mainly because it's like a goddamn ray of sunshine in all its yellow-hued adorableness. Even better than the sunny color is the clean-lined simplicity of it, making it a perfect blank-slate for accessories and layering.

But so many options! The mystery of what to pair it with left me befuddled. The clues were there, however, and the answer became clear — a vintage plaid Pendleton coat (also purchased for a steal at $5!) Why? Because together they looked like something Nancy Drew might wear in the '70s. And obviously Nancy Drew makes me think of books. So off to the library we went, where I stifled giggles and tried my best not to disturb the quiet. (It was quite a feat for me.)

I'm wearing:    Thrifted vintage dress, thrifted vintage Pendleton coat, thrifted Nine West heeled loafers, green tights from Target, necklace from a clothing swap, thrifted vintage bracelet.

WTF, wrinkles? I ironed you!

In honor of Valentine's Day, I had to stop in the romance novel section and scope out the smut.

The bottom line? This dress is awesome. Case closed.
